CHILD SAFETY
ASPENDALE LIFE SAVING CLUB - CHILD SAFE STATEMENT
Child safety means being free from abuse, harassment, discrimination, or inappropriate behaviour, whether on the water, off the water, in lifesaving activities, or in everyday life.
At Aspendale Life Saving Club, we are dedicated to ensuring that all young people in our community have the information and resources they need to understand their rights to safety.
We commit to:
• Clearly explaining what child safety means in both lifesaving and everyday situations.
• Using language that is easy for young people to understand.
• Engaging directly with young people, listening to them, and asking for their feedback.
• Supporting young people's right to express their views and what matters to them.
• Tailoring our communication to be relevant and accessible to young people.
• Ensuring young people are safe both on and off the water.
• Making the wellbeing and safety of young people our highest priority.
• Making it simple and straightforward for young people to raise concerns.
• Taking prompt action when young people raise concerns.
• Recognising that child safety is everyone's responsibility.
• Empowering young people to take an active role in their own safety and the safety of their peers.
• Creating a safe environment where young people feel heard, respected, and protected.
