
AGE MANAGERS

Age managers are responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of junior lifesavers in the Nippers program, between the ages of U6-U14, by coordinating activities, developing their skills, and promoting a fun, safe, and progressive surf lifesaving experience.
To become an Age Manager, individuals must be 18 years or older, a financial member of a surf club, complete the Safeguarding Children and Young People Awareness Course, complete the online or face-to-face LSV Age Managers course, and undergo practical, on-beach mentoring sessions.

Responsibilities of an Age Manager

Coordination: Organize and lead activities for their assigned age group of Nippers.

Safety: Ensure the overall safety and well-being of the children on the beach and in the water.

Skill Development: Facilitate the development of lifesaving skills, surf awareness, confidence, and teamwork.

Lesson Planning: Prepare and deliver lessons tailored to their age group.

Club Involvement: Fosters a collaborative approach to managing the Nippers group and encourages progression in their lifesaving journey.
Requirements to Become an Age Manager

Age: Minimum 18 years old.

Membership: Must be a financial member of a Life Saving Victoria (LSV) club.

Working with Children Check: Must have completed the relevant state/territory legislation check for working with children.

Course Completion: Must complete the Safeguarding Children and Young People Awareness Course.

Training: Complete the LSV Age Managers course, which includes online theory and on-beach practical sessions.

Mentoring: Participate in on-beach mentoring sessions with an experienced Age Manager mentor to gain practical experience.
